Light distribution curves for indoor luminaires are given at least in the C0-180° and C90-270° planes to provide users with an idea. For road lighting luminaires, they must be given at least in the C0-180°, C90-270° and the Imax plane where maximum luminous intensity is obtained. For floodlights, light distribution curves can be given in the B or C planes.
A Planes
These are the planes passing through the luminaire and rotating around an axis perpendicular to the luminaire axis. Light distribution curves are given with luminous intensity vectors forming α angles with the vertical in these planes.

B Planes
The luminaire axis is also taken as the axis of rotation. Light distribution curves in these planes are the locus of points of luminous intensities making angles with the vertical.

C Planes
Light distribution curves in the C planes, which take the vertical axis passing through the luminaire as the axis of rotation, are given with luminous intensity vectors forming angles with the vertical in these planes.

Indoor Lighting Luminaires
Indoor lighting luminaires are divided into 6 groups according to the ratio of light emitted into the lower and upper hemispheres:

Road Lighting Luminaires
According to the CIE, road lighting luminaires are divided into 3 groups; classification of luminaires according to the CIE:
* The luminous intensity can be at most 1000 cd.

I80: The maximum luminous intensity value (in cd/1000 lm) under the 80° angle with the vertical in the C=0 and C=20 planes. I90: The maximum luminous intensity value (in cd/1000 lm) under the 90° angle with the vertical in the C=0 and C=20 planes. gmax: The angle at which the maximum luminous intensity (Imax) occurs.

IP Table
Luminaire protection classes are given as IPXY. Here, X (the first digit) indicates protection against solid objects, and Y (the second digit) indicates protection against liquids.

The purpose of the protection classification is to ensure the safety of human operation by protecting the interior of the enclosures and equipment against dust and water that may come from outside.
